UFO over Coggeshall

Christmas midnight 2000

A white triangle was seen by a couple, who live in Coggeshall, Essex, around midnight on Christmas day (2000).

They reported to EUFO & PRG that they saw a "silent, huge white triangular shaped object seemingly changing its shape" zooming past them in the sky, when they were driving home between Kelvedon and Coggeshall.

When they arrived home they said the object hovered and five beams of light were emitted from it.

At a request for other witnesses to come forward, published in local newspapers, the following sightings were reported.

November night
Coggeshall
Weird dome shaped pinkish object "parked" in a desolate field on the road between Kelvedon and Coggeshall.

November night
Coggeshall
A spinning triangular object, in direction over Markshall woods.

12 December night
Coggeshall
Strange white lights (laser lights?) were moving backwards and forwards through an angle of about 90 degrees".

21 December night
Coggeshall
Hundreds of bright flashing & shimmering white lights to the north. (meteor showers?

22 December night
Coggeshall
A silent, white triangle/boomerang, about 3 feet (1 metre) across, whooshed silently overhead at great speed, towards Witham/Silver End.

25 December 2330 hours
Aldham
A silent formation consisting of two concentric circles of creamy-white spherical lights, of varying sizes, were observed for an hour. Occasionally they moved, synchronised, to form a straight line. The circular formation of white lights seemed to change size as they moved up and down.

26 December 0005 hours
Feering
A cluster of 10-12 "searchlights", which stretched some distance across the sky, travelled horizontally towards Coggeshall. The formation were sweeping backwards and forwards across the sky.

26 December 0030 hours
Coggeshall
A dozen or more elongated white lights, about half an inch (1 cm), were seen for several minutes towards Earls Colne. They moved from left to right, backwards & forwards.

26 December 0030 hours
Kelvedon to White Colne
A couple travelling some half an hour later along the same Kelvedon-Coggeshall road were heading home to White Colne, when they also were "followed" by a huge, spinning white object about 50 feet (16 metres) wide. It resembled the reflections of light seen beneath a chandelier. The object hovered over White Colne - the two occupants in the car, somewhat frightened by the event, made a hasty retreat to the safety of their home.
When they telephoned the police, they were informed there had been no laser light displays that night.

26 December 0045 hours
Coggeshall
Two beams, each consisting of 5 white rays of light moved towards Earls Colne and returned about 10 seconds later. This toeing and froing took place for about 3 hours

27 December 1400 hours
Bocking
A football-size of red fire, with black smoke trailing behind it, fell from the sky (no aeroplane in sight), in a direction towards Coggeshall. It went out / disappeared.

Markshall
Bright white circular object, about 3" (8 cms) diameter, observed hovering "over" Coggeshall for a few minutes. Viewed through binoculars, it had extensions to its sides. It moved south slowly.

31 December 0230 hours
Silver End
A bright, white ball of light, about 16' (5 metres) diameter, moving at great speed towards Colchester. The occupants of car lost view of the object when they drove through wooded lane.

4 January 1945 hours
Chelmsford
A single white light, about tennis ball size, descended through diffused clouds, transforming to a triangular object of three white lights about 18 inches (half metre) across. It moved at great speed towards Writtle.

These reported unusual objects were not the Russian Mira space station, nor shooting stars, nor aircraft lights.

The possibility of reflections from laser light shows was considered, since laser light directed skywards will reflect from any clouds as white circles, over areas up to at least 10 miles.
However police had stated to one of the respondents that there were no laser shows in the area on 25/26 December.

Did Essex Golf Club celebrate 25/26 with fireworks or laser shows? No, the club was closed - like all(?) clubs at this time.
And it not usual to celebrate Christmas midnight with laser lights

In conclusion, there seems to exist a focal point of UFO activity - "hot spot" - over the Markshall wood region, since the directions, of sightings received from respondents living in Aldham, Coggeshall, Earls Colne, Feering, and Bocking, intersect there.
